Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered in a search tool is sent to the outside company that provides that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. Macon County Court Docket does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be kept long enough to review and answer it. We do not share the message outside our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Servers may collect basic technical and usage details when a visitor loads a page:
- The device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- The referring website, when available
- The date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help measure aggregate use, such as which pages receive traffic and where visits end. A browser can block or remove cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate the website and maintain reasonable load times
- Route search submissions to the applicable outside provider
- Measure which material visitors use
- Diagnose errors and other technical problems
- Display advertising that may reflect a visitor's interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Macon County Court Docket does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of official dockets or personal case records. Its material identifies ways to reach the Circuit Clerk of Macon County, Macon County Circuit and District Courts, separate municipal and probate custodians, and Alabama's statewide trial-court services. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Alabama court records are controlled chiefly by courts and judicial rules. The Alabama Open Records Act, Ala. Code § 36-12-40, addresses public writings held by public officers, but it does not convert information held by this private website into a government record. Alabama electronic-filing policy governs public viewing of electronic trial-court records, and Alabama Rule of Civil Procedure 5.1 sets privacy protections for sensitive identifiers in public filings.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes that appear on some pages. Information submitted to one of those boxes is handled under that company's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices. Those practices are not controlled by Macon County Court Docket. Review the provider's policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Circuit Clerk, Alabama trial-court services, court portals, legal-aid organizations, and outside search providers. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites or select targeted advertisements. We do not control that outside tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Outside search providers that process a submitted query
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and performance
- Advertising networks serving ads on the website
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used security measures protect the information we collect. No internet-connected service can guarantee complete security, however. We work to reduce risk but cannot promise that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied personal data, we will remove it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Rights concerning personal data differ by residence and by the law that applies. Alabama's Open Records Act concerns qualifying records held by public officers; requests for Macon County Circuit or District Court files are also subject to court control, statewide judicial rules, confidentiality law, and Alabama's electronic-record policies. Those public-record rules are distinct from requests about data held by this private website. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Ask what personal information we retain about them
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Ask that retained personal data be deleted
- Opt out of certain processing when an applicable law provides that choice
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A revised policy will appear here with a new effective date, so visitors may return to review the current terms.
Effective date: August 13, 2026
